For Irish businesses planning what comes next

Find the right fit.
Before writing the application.

A long list of grants is not a funding strategy. You need to know which opportunities suit your business, whether the timing works and what the application will ask of your team.

We start with your plans: the problem, the development work, the commercial objective and the resources available. Then we assess the funding fit, identify gaps and help you decide where an application is worth the investment of time.

A focused first conversation
Bring the project, development stage, location and approximate budget—not a finished proposal.
A relevant shortlist
We assess scheme fit and timing before recommending significant application work.
A clear commercial story
Connect the technical challenge to customers, capability and the benefits the project can deliver.
An agreed scope
Understand the application work, your contribution, fees and any post-award support upfront.

Why InnoFund

Make the innovation clear.
Make the plan credible.

A strong application connects ambition to an achievable project. We help your technical, commercial and finance teams tell the same story.

Funding fit

Choose with purpose.

Assess the business criteria, project scope, funder priorities and application window before investing heavily.

Technical substance

Explain what is different.

Bring out the challenge, proposed development and specialist capabilities without burying the case in jargon.

Commercial value

Show why it matters.

Connect the project to market need, delivery capability and the outcomes the funding is intended to enable.

Financial discipline

Build a budget that holds together.

Connect costs, milestones, cash flow and the company contribution, with assumptions your team can explain.

Independent advice, not a funding promise. InnoFund is not the awarding body. Decisions remain with the funder, and eligibility does not guarantee an award.

Irish funding routes worth exploring

Different stages.
Different kinds of support.

The appropriate route depends on your company, project and development stage. Availability, limits and approval conditions must be checked when you apply.

01

Research, Development & Innovation Fund

Enterprise Ireland support for eligible development and innovation projects. We assess the business and project fit before shaping an application.

02

Innovation Vouchers

Standard €10,000 vouchers connect eligible businesses with registered knowledge providers. These are not unrestricted cash grants or vouchers to pay any consultant.

03

Exploring Innovation

Enterprise Ireland advertises support of up to €35,000 to investigate the technical feasibility of an RD&I project, subject to its conditions.

04

Innovation Partnerships

Research collaboration with eligible institutions, with support potentially covering up to 80% of research costs under the programme’s rules.

05

Local Enterprise Office supports

For suitable smaller businesses, feasibility and other local supports may offer a more relevant starting point. Local eligibility matters.

06

Energy and sustainability

SEAI offers business supports for energy and decarbonisation investment. The right scheme depends on the proposed measures and project scale.

What makes a funding case convincing

Give the funder
a project they can assess.

We help turn the application requirements into a practical information plan. Every number, milestone and claim about the project should have a clear basis.

Speak to us before committing expenditure. Many programmes require an application or approval before eligible work starts; prior spending cannot be assumed to qualify. Other Irish, EU or research-collaboration routes can be assessed where relevant, without assuming a particular call is open.

  • Project and innovation

Explain the problem, proposed work, development challenge and what the project adds.

  • Team and capability

Show who will deliver the work and how specialist partners address any capability gaps.

  • Milestones and outcomes

Set out the development stages, decision points and tangible results the work aims to deliver.

  • Eligible costs

Build an itemised budget that follows the scheme rules rather than a broad investment estimate.

  • Company contribution

Consider match funding, cash flow, other public support and the obligations that come with an award.

  • Evidence and reporting

Prepare the records needed to substantiate the application and, if successful, the later drawdown or reporting.

How we work

From the next idea
to the right application.

The process is built around an informed decision to apply, followed by clear responsibilities and a realistic submission plan.

  1. 01

    Understand

Discuss your business, project pipeline, previous support, resources and timing.

  2. 02

    Shortlist

Identify relevant schemes and check the key eligibility conditions and application status.

  3. 03

    Shape

Develop the technical, commercial and financial case around the funder’s requirements.

  4. 04

    Prepare and review

Coordinate the written application, budget and evidence, with your team checking the commitments made.

  5. 05

    Submit and plan ahead

Support submission and agreed follow-up. If no suitable route is available, explain what to prepare for a future opportunity.

Engineering innovation activity that may qualify for R&D Tax Credits
InnoFund adviser discussing R&D Tax Credits with a technology & software business

One project. A coordinated funding position.

Plan the grant.
Understand the tax position.

An award can affect more than the project budget. Public-funding conditions, eligible-cost rules and the company’s own contribution need to be understood alongside any tax relief.

We connect the application to your Irish R&D Tax Credit and capital expenditure review where relevant. Keep the award letter, budget and cost records together so later claims reflect the funding received.

  • Timing considered before expenditure
  • Funding and tax relief reviewed together
  • Records prepared for delivery and reporting

We consider the project and business before recommending a route. Potential sources include Enterprise Ireland, Local Enterprise Offices and SEAI, with Irish and European research or collaboration programmes considered where appropriate. We confirm current availability and eligibility for the particular opportunity.

No. The awarding body decides whether an application meets its criteria and, where relevant, how it ranks against others. We improve the clarity, evidence and coherence of the application without promising an award.

Ask before starting or committing expenditure. Many schemes impose application or approval requirements before eligible project activity begins. The exact rule depends on the programme.

No. Company size, location, sector, agency relationship, previous support and the nature of the project can all affect eligibility. We check those factors before recommending an application.

Do not assume so. Funding intensity, caps, eligible costs and the company contribution vary by scheme. You also need to understand when the grant is paid and how the project will be financed in the meantime.

Potentially, but the relevant grant-funded expenditure must be taken into account in the Irish R&D credit calculation. We review the award and tax position together rather than counting the same funded cost twice.

Yes. We can assess how clearly the draft addresses the criteria, whether the technical and commercial case align and whether the financial assumptions are supported. We agree the review scope and available time first.

We will say so. The useful next step may be refining the project, building the evidence or preparing for a future call. Any ongoing opportunity monitoring is agreed as part of the engagement, not assumed.
