For manufacturers & business owners

Understand the bill.
Protect capacity to invest.

Electricity costs affect the margin on a production run and the money available for equipment, recruitment and development. A useful review starts with your operations: what you produce, where you produce it and how energy reaches each site.

We connect that picture to the relevant relief routes, helping finance and operations understand the opportunity and the information needed to assess it.

Start with your sites
Bring a site list and a recent bill. We identify the questions that matter.
Use existing records
Bills, production information and supply arrangements provide the starting point for a review.
Connect the right people
Finance, operations and procurement each contribute to a consistent understanding of the business.
Understand the next step
See which routes merit investigation and where further evidence or clarification is needed.

Why InnoFund

The opportunity is in
the operating detail.

A sector label or a large bill tells only part of the story. The useful work connects activity, consumption and the rules behind each charge.

Operations

Understand the production.

Connect products and processes to actual site activity before considering eligibility.

Supply

Follow the electricity.

Understand meters, bill payers and shared supplies so the review reflects the arrangement.

Evidence

Explain the calculation.

Bring source records and allocation assumptions together in a position your team can follow.

Coordination

See the wider picture.

Consider existing support and procurement alongside relief, keeping each calculation clear.

One connected financial conversation. Energy relief can sit alongside R&D tax relief and capital allowances, with each assessed against its own conditions.

Is a review relevant to you?

The starting points
for a useful conversation.

You do not need to know which scheme fits. Start with the business and the charges you want to understand.

01

Manufacturing activity

The products and processes at each site help identify which support routes merit review.

02

Meaningful energy costs

Consumption matters, alongside the relevant activity, classification and scheme-specific tests.

03

More than one location

Factories, offices and warehouses can have different eligibility positions and supply arrangements.

04

Existing relief

Current certificates and compensation decisions help establish what is already supported.

05

Shared or landlord supplies

Identify who holds the supplier bills and how your consumption is measured or allocated.

06

Changes ahead

New products, production lines or meters are useful reasons to revisit the energy position.

Where support can apply

Separate the costs.
Assess each route.

Tax relief, policy-cost exemptions and compensation address different parts of the energy bill. Eligibility and value need their own assessment; support under one scheme does not establish entitlement under another.

Explore BICS separately for the new manufacturing electricity scheme.

  • Climate Change Levy

Review qualifying uses, including mineralogical or metallurgical processes, and reduced rates through Climate Change Agreements where applicable.

  • EII & British Industry Supercharger

Examine the relevant industry and business tests for exemptions from specified electricity policy costs.

  • Network Charging Compensation

Consider eligible network charges and EII certificate coverage within the separate compensation process.

  • UK ETS & Carbon Price Support

Review compensation for qualifying indirect carbon costs, subject to the scheme's product, sector and financial tests.

How we work

From the operating picture
to an informed next step.

A structured review brings commercial priorities and the supporting information into the same conversation.

  1. 01

    Understand your business

Review sites, production, consumption, existing support and the questions your team needs answered.

  2. 02

    Identify relevant routes

Compare actual activity and supply arrangements with the conditions of the appropriate schemes.

  3. 03

    Bring the evidence together

Connect bills and production records to calculations, recording assumptions and identifying information gaps.

  4. 04

    Agree the way forward

Explain the position, application requirements and implementation considerations before agreeing further support.

Energy relief, explained

Questions before you start.

Bring the bill and the business context. We will help establish what needs closer review.

Discuss your energy costs

It can include relief from Climate Change Levy. Other routes provide exemptions from specified electricity policy costs or compensation for eligible network and indirect carbon costs. Each addresses a different charge and has its own conditions.

No. Eligibility depends on the particular scheme, activity, products, consumption and other relevant tests. A manufacturing description or a high bill alone does not establish entitlement.

No. They are separate measures with different conditions. Existing support must be considered to prevent duplicate relief. Our BICS page explains that scheme in more detail.

Potentially. The supply arrangement, underlying records and allocation of consumption need review. Where support is available, establish how the benefit would pass through to the eligible business.

A recent bill, site list, summary of production and details of existing relief are useful starting points. Mention shared meters, landlord billing or changes to your operations so we can identify the next information needed.

No. The conditions are separate. Reviewing them alongside each other can still help your business understand its finances and capacity to invest.

Procurement considers supply contracts and commercial terms. Relief considers eligibility for specific exemptions or compensation. They can influence the same bill, so assumptions and potential benefits should be considered separately.
